Gallery : Waterfalls : New York - Western
Finger Lakes Region (3)
The Finger Lakes Region has many waterfalls.

Letchworth State Park (13)
As the Genesee river makes it's way North through the park it goes over 3 major waterfalls. Also many Genesee's tributaries have waterfalls as they fall into the gorge. View Map

Rochester Area (7)
The Genesee River has three major waterfalls in the city of Rochester. One of which is man made. There are also numerous other water falls in and around the city. View Map

Stony Brook (7)
Stony Brook State Park has 3 major falls and many smaller falls. View Map

Taughannock Falls (5)
Taughannock's main cataract of the falls drops 215 ft, that's 33 ft taller than Niagara Falls. As with many areas in this region there are Indian legends that pertain to this water fall and how it got it's name. The most common variation I've heard is that it's name comes from an Indian chief who fell over the falls to his death. The falls can be viewed from and over look(accessible by car) or from the end of a 3/4 mile gorge trail. View Map

Watkins Glen State Park (22)
The glen's stream runs through a gorge which you can hike though. The gorge contains 19 waterfalls of various sizes.
